Sundance Film Festival 2026

Every January, The Michigan Daily Film Beat ventures to Park City, Utah for the bustle of creativity, culture and film that is the Sundance Film Festival. This year was perhaps more special than most, as it was the festival’s final year in Park City. Celebrating the legacy of Robert Redford, the festival’s founder, this year’s Sundance Film Festival was a culmination of everything the festival represents: honoring independent art and all the people who make it happen. Amid a weekend of reflection, excitement and chaos, we’re here to share our thoughts on some of the festival’s biggest projects.

Film Beat Editor Abigail Weinberg, Daily Arts Writer Maya Ruder and Daily Arts Writer JC Rafal can be reached at weinab@umich.edu, mayarud@umich.edu and rafaljc@umich.edu, respectively.
